  • David Alex - Drums, Recording Engineer, Producer

    B.S., University of South Florida

    David Alex has been playing music from a very early age, having a very musically encouraging family. Starting piano at 6 and then ...moving to drums at 12, he has been playing and learning about both instruments for over 15 years. He has been performing music in the Tampa Bay area since 2006 and producing his own music since 2009. David was the music teacher and children's choir director at Notre Dame Catholic School for 3 years working with ages ranging from Pre-K up to 8th graders. He also runs a recording studio in New Port Richey, Florida called Foxbloom Recordings where he produces and mixes songs written by various artists.

    Vocal coach Julie Black works with vocal students of all ages and experience levels. From music performance to public speaking, she’s helped guide people to develop their voices and expand creative horizons. She specializes in blues, jazz, rock, and soul. Julie is a professional music-maker, and an award-winning singer and songwriter, who performs with her original band throughout the southeast.

    Lisa Dolcy was born in Jamaica, and her early musical influences range from the local sounds of the Caribbean to music sung by church choirs under her father’s direction. As she grew older and migrated to the United States, this love of music only grew now accompanied with a strong desire to share it with others. She graduated with a B.S. in Music (Vocal Concentration) from Southern Adventist University and a Masters in Music Education (Choral Conducting) from Florida State University. Throughout her musical career, Lisa has sung and led various choirs, performed concert solos and directed high school musicals. Her experience as a certified K-12 Music Educator in Florida’s public schools, musician, and private studio teacher is motivated by the enjoyment of making music for music’s sake and a want to equip others do the same.

  • Dave Eichenberger - Guitar

    Dave Eichenberger composes ambient music using guitar technology and looping. His 50 hour/50 CD project, "Collectives" resulted in a grant from the National Endowment for the Arts and the State of Florida, and his ambient compositions have been featured in film, TV and on live radio. Dave studied music at William Patterson University and is influenced by such diverse guitarists as Steve Howe, Ritchie Blackmore, Robert Fripp and Steve Morse. His unique style keeps him in demand as both a session player and instructor. Somehow he also has time to perform and record with international singer/songwriter Julie Black. He has performed at major jazz and blues festivals and her 3 CDs have been on the charts in many countries around the globe. Dave is currently a blogger for Seymour Duncan and consults with many manufacturers on guitar and guitar technology-related products.

  • Noah Hekhuis - Recording Engineer

    Noah grew up in a musical family and started his first official guitar lessons at 8 years old. At 12 he picked up the bass guitar and started playing for his church at 13. Along with playing bass, Noah helped on the sound and AV team at church where he gained a well rounded experience in the field.

    After getting his AA at Pasco-Hernando State College, Noah went on to get a degree at St. Petersburg College in their Music Industry Recording Arts program with a production focus. While at St. Petersburg College Noah did an internship at The Palladium in St. Petersburg, FL under the direction of Damon Dougherty and was on the crew for groups such as The Yard Birds and Vanilla Fudge among others. During this time Noah also was the engineer for St. Petersburg College’s radio station. In the last portion of his education, Noah interned as an engineer at Cogent Records in Brooksville, FL under producer Jonathan Johnson.

    Currently, Noah works in the Tampa area as a studio engineer as well as a live sound engineer. Noah has worked with many local artists as well as larger acts such as Cage the Elephant, The Avett Brothers, Gary Clark Jr., Sublime with Rome, among others and at festivals including Gasparilla Music Festival, Tampa Margarita Fest and Tampa Summer of Rum Fest.

  • Joe McNeal - Guitar

    Joe McNeal has been playing guitar professionally in the Tampa Bay area since 2000. Originally from Pennsylvania, Joe began playing guitar at age 12. By the age of 16 he had his own band and was playing high school dances and working at the local guitar shop. After high school Joe went to Boston to study music at Berklee College of Music. While at Berklee he immersed himself in as many different styles as he could; including jazz, blues, rock, country, bluegrass, and flamenco. After graduating, Joe spent a year teaching guitar in the Washington DC area before relocating to Tampa Bay, FL to play music full time. Joe has made a great career out of playing guitar over the last 20 years. He's done studio work for national commercials and various original bands, while also performing multiple times a week locally and beyond. His current band, The Spazmatics, plays clubs, festivals and corporate events throughout the Southeastern US, Caribbean, and even Europe. Joe McNeal continues to be a student of the guitar and is always on a quest to learn more.

  • Eric Mullins - Executive Director; Saxophone, Clarinet, Piano, Guitar, Electric Bass

    B.F.A. Jazz Studies, New School University

    Eric started piano lessons at a young age and took up the saxophone at age 12. After high school, Eric spent a year studying music at the University of Louisville during which time he played in the music department's jazz band, backing up vocalist Kevin Mahogany and jazz legend Clark Terry. In 1999, he joined the Bobby "Blue" Bland band and spent the next year and and a half playing the blues across North America in nightclubs and at festivals like the Monterey Jazz Festival, The Chicago Blues Festival, and the Essence Festival in New Orleans. In 2000 he toured the U.K. with Bobby "Blue" Bland and Van Morrison. In 2003, Eric graduated with a B.F.A. from The New School in New York City, having studied closely with many teachers such as legendary jazz bassist Reggie Workman and Saturday Night Live percussionist Valerie Naranjo. He has performed at the University of Ghana in West Africa and in Tokyo, Japan with the Gospel Voices of Memphis. Eric taught in public and private schools in Tennessee and Florida for 13 years. In 2007 Eric and his wife Marina founded Mullins Music, continuing to follow their passion for music and striving to pass it on to future generations.

  • Marina Mullins - Artistic Director; Piano, Keyboards

    B.A. Theology & Music, Trinity College of Florida

    Marina was born in Durban, South Africa. She started playing at about age 4 and began lessons at the age of 6. Throughout her high school years she was a frequent performer in church. After high school she continued her study of music at the University of Natal in Durban where she honed her skills as a jazz pianist. She performed as a solo pianist at local venues. In Durban, she taught college level music theory and piano at POPS Ministries. At the age of 21 Marina moved, with her family, to Florida. In Florida she studied at the University of South Florida and at Trinity College. She was pianist at Palm Harbor Christian Center and later Riverside Fellowship. She taught private piano lessons for adults and children. Marina performed with Entheos music team from Trinity College. In Tennessee she taught college level music at the Visible School and later served as co-director of music and pianist for Memphis Christian Center and co-director of VIP Summer Music Camp. Marina also performed in Memphis with jazz groups including Southern Lights and Kwest. Marina holds a B.A. in church music from Florida Theological Seminary and a B.A. in theology from Trinity College in Florida. Marina also taught music for five years at Dayspring Academy, a charter school for education and the arts. She and her husband, Eric, are co-founders and directors of Mullins Music located in New Port Richey, Florida.

    Alicia was born in Newark, NJ and raised in Atlantic Beach, Fl. Her love for string instruments began in 5th grade when her teacher, Ms. Morse, pulled out the violin and began to play. This new love and passion grew over the years and by 10th grade the viola was her string of choice. As a high-school graduate of Douglas Anderson School of the Arts in Jacksonville, FL, Alicia decided to expand her musical education by receiving her Bachelor of Music Education from Stetson University in DeLand, FL.

    Alicia has dedicated her life to fostering the musical development of young children and is a huge advocate of music being a part of a child’s free, public education. Alicia has spent 21 years teaching elementary music in the state of Florida; 20 of those at McKitrick Elementary in Lutz! In addition to having the privilege of teaching many great students over these years, Alicia also enjoys directing the school’s choral ensembles and the French Club. During her limited spare time Alicia enjoys spending time with her family; binge watching Netflix series and playing violin and viola with Best of the Bay cover band, Same Day Delivery Orchestra.
